Have you ever wanted to see the world from a more personal perspective, traveling to destinations that your travel agent has never heard of?  Have you dreamed of rafting through jungles or backpacking your way along a foreign coast line?   Have you already traveled to other countries but found yourself locked into tourist traps and wondered "how can I experience the true culture of this world"?    These are symptoms of the modern tourist who has not learned to escape their own comfort zone.   A professional Travel Companion is the solution.

Travel Companion FAQs

What are the travel costs?

  • All travel costs for both parties are your responsibility unless otherwise discussed.
  • Travel Expenses can vary greatly depending on what you wish to do and how much involvement you wish me to have in those activities. Prices can range from $25/day/person to "sky is the limit".  It is really up to you how fancy you want to go and where we are traveling.  I will be able to give you approximate ranges after our initial travel interview.
  • I am very effective at finding the lowest prices for anything we do, but the final decision will always be yours.
  • Our initial travel plan will have a budget included so that you will have an estimate of your total vacation price.

About Your Travel Guide
Written by Gene Tewksbury

Travel GuideAllow me to tell you a little about myself and my reason for starting this service.   I was Born 1968 in Virginia USA and now live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado USA.   I've traveled my entire life.  My earliest memories are of travel through South America via a rickety old VW microbus with my parents.   Travel was born into my blood.   As such I've spent my adult life with a severe case of wanderlust.

I have worked jobs in many fields including the tourist industry, government researcher, web design and business owner.  It was not until I started this travel service that I felt I'd finally found my true calling.

Over years of travel I began noticing how different my own experience was from the average tourist.   In most cases people's interaction with a country's population and culture amounts to little more than a heritage festival.   They see cookie cutter demonstrations of what life is like in a culture and then return to their "all inclusive resort".  I supposed this would be fine if it were not for the empty reviews that most people seem to give their own vacations.  All too often their experience could have been had at any resort, anywhere.  I wanted to change that by showing willing adventurers that they can take the road less traveled (or go where there are no roads at all).  And when it's all said and done, they will be better people for the experience.

Traveler Testimonials

Melissa (Alaska) - Costa Rica Backpack Trip

BackPacking in Costa Rica

"Wow! This was the most fun I've ever had. I was so worried about traveling to another country, especially one where I did not know the language or culture. I was only days away from booking an expensive week at some beach resort where I probably would have done nothing but eat and drink in a lawn chair. Then I found your travel companion website by accident when I clicked a wrong link.  After reading some I said "that's the kind of adventure I want to live". Let me tell you, that you did not disappoint.

You took me places I NEVER would have tried to go on my own.   Like taking us over the border into Panama just so we could find some good scuba diving at Boccas del Torra (too bad the water had been turned up by that storm - oh well it was still so much fun).   And spending time on Bastemenous island.  I didn't know that places like that existed.  No roads, no cars, no tvs, just a single walking path and lots of jungle.  I didn't even know people lived like that, and yet you still found us such a wondrous place to stay with that great German couple.   I could see fish through the floor of my hammock room.  Amazing!  I really broke free from my comfort zone there.
